Synopsis:
In Part I of the Zonus Project, we learned that t is the year 2045, and two political parties are vying for control of the world government; these are the United Collegiate (or “UC”) and the Vocational Alliance (or “VA”). A civil war has broken out between the UC and VA, with the UC gaining the upper hand.
Lance Carter is a senior UC researcher at the Monta Vista Research Lab. He works there with three high school buddies: Maverick, Kessler and Pepin. Maverick and Kessler are security guards, while Pepin is a janitor. On their way to work, they run into a friend of Pepin’s, Tasanee Wak. They stop to talk, and meet Tasanee’s enormous dog Souly, who barks like a Chiwawa.
Later they find an injured UC Pressure Officer. When they stop to help, a squad of POs accuse them of shooting the officer. The POs try to arrest Lance and his friends, but some colorfully dressed rebels appear and chase the POs away. The rebels claim to be members of the Society of Non-Conformists (or “Non-Cons”). After thanking the Non-Cons, Lance and his friends continue on their way to the Lab.
